On a day when we hear the news of the total deaths from the Covid-19 virus, my wife and I were shaken by what is considered a blessing. As we watched the coverage on television, we were suddenly startled by our Portal saying: “Calling Phyllis Kuznicki.” Phyllis is my dear wife’s late mother and my friend who passed a couple of years ago. Though the phone rang and rang, we kept hope she would answer the Portal call, but it went unanswered. Both of us were in awe and we know that mom is near.
I know that many are suffering this Holy Week and my wife and I share in your pain. Despite the politics being played out, I pray for our President and His staff. Let the blaming from some of the politicians, namely the Michigan Governor to roll off your back as you have allowed so much to not affect your duties. Let’s check in with each other to fill needs that are going unfilled and if anyone knows of someone in need, especially in the South Haven, Michigan area that needs help let me know. My wife, Mary Ann is making masks, so if you need help ask to be her friend on Facebook (Mary Ann Kuznicki Livovich). I will visit the sick and deliver groceries if needed. If prayers are needed I am prepared to add anyone’s name to my prayer list.
Back to the positive, so many have answered the call to help others. Many are suggesting that our Lord has caused this virus as a chastisement. I am not in a position to validate this, but what I do believe is many are inspired by our Lord’s love for all of us by mobilizing to help those in need. I understand more and more people are reading the Bible as more and more are responding to the needs of others. This is the Holy Spirit of Love moving around us to reach out. Pray also for our leaders and our Pope. Though I (many) feel they are misguided at times, they must be struggling as we are. Having been a leader for much of my life I can say that most will never know what it takes to help others. Much of what leaders do goes unnoticed and they get criticized for what gossip mongers say is wrong.
“Dear Lord, put your hand on all of the people that are leading the fight against this plague. Our health care, civil on the line workers, leaders, the moms and dads who feel helpless to help their elderly parents and their children and grandchildren, and the selfless people that are also on the front lines helping neighbors need your love and the inspiration from the Holy Spirit. Inspire the leaders to stop blaming one another and to think of each other’s welfare as your children. Last, I would like to ask you to give our Priests and Bishops to stand up and offer Masses and church services even if in a parking lot with parked cars. Give them courage and give your faithful the courage to speak out against those that deny Sacraments in this dire time. We are hungry for your Eucharist, my Lord, and we need your help in a time where so many are lost. In your name we pray:
'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'"
'Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
May our Lord continue to bless us. May the Holy Spirit of Love inspire us. May St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle against Satan.
